High Surf Yesterday - Plastic Today
A lovely sunset was tainted by HUGE quantities of plastic on our beach. I haven't seen the plastic littering our beach like this EVER. The last time I noticed a lot of plastic on the beach was January 9th of this year. Yesterday there was a big surf advisory and I have never seen the waves so big. I definitely think the 2 events are connected. There was so much plastic it literally made me feel sick. We picked up what we could be all agreed it would have taken days to get it all. sigh.

Indian Summer
After an incredibly cold summer, the heat has finally arrived. The surf was big and the sunset lovely tonight. I walked to Cooks and Sus met me there.

In the nick of time... again!
I jogged down the hill and made it to Cook's beach just as the sun was re-appearing through the fog bank. It was a lovely sunset. What a great way to start the weekend.... sigh...

Where did the summer go?
It has been far too long since my last sunset post. Last week I did catch sunset but forgot my camera. Doh!
We (Emma, Mattman and I) walked to Cook's Beach tonight to see the sunset. We were not disappointed.

2 Sunsets

The sunset with the rock was taken on Saturday night at Gualala Point Park. The orange sky one was taken on Friday night just south of The Sea Ranch after an INCREDIBLE whale filled hike around Horseshoe Cove. I have never seen SO many whales in one day before. It is definitely migration season on the pacific coast.

Where'd the beach go 2?

Got to Cook's Beach in the nick of time to see the sunset. It was high tide and when we got to the bottom of the stairs, the water was the highest we had ever seen it! There was no beach and not many rocks to even stand on. We ended up retreating to the bluff view. It will be interesting to see how long this SUPER high tide lasts.

The last couple of week's sunsets were rained out.
Today's sunset was tainted with plastic. For the very first time on Cook's Beach I noticed large quantities of plastic bits in the waterline of the tide. Is this the first signs of the Pacific Gyre moving on to our shores? sigh.... I guess time will tell.
